Jon Alba is an Emmy Award-winning producer and nationally recognized multimedia journalist from East Brunswick, New Jersey. Currently, he is the sports director and nightly sports anchor for ABC 7 and FOX 22 in Bangor, Maine.
From age 5, Jon knew he wanted to tell stories for a living. He has worked closely with media professionals throughout the news, sports and entertainment industries. He is well-versed in many areas of the sports spectrum, with experience in covering professional sports, Division I athletics, high school games and combat sports.
At age 23, Jon won his first Emmy Award for his work at MLB Network as an associate producer. Additionally, he has spent time with Major League Baseball Advanced Media. Jon has also worked as a contributor for AOL Sports upon its launch of the College Contributor Network.
Jon also has an extensive background in sports-entertainment. A lifelong professional wrestling fan, he has worked in the independent circuit as talent, and has interviewed some of the biggest names in the industry. Currently, Jon co-hosts the "Living The Gimmick" podcast on Wrestle Reaction.
His love for media began as a child, as he quickly became infatuated with sports television. Before even entering high school, Jon had co-founded a successful sports blog "SportsFullCircle," employing writers from around the world. He then took his ventures into the world of podcasting, hosting original sports and entertainment-talk programming while interviewing various high-profile celebrities.
Jon graduated Quinnipiac University in May of 2015, delivering the commencement speech for his graduation ceremony. During his four years at the school, he collaborated with every student media organization on-campus, learning the tricks and trades of everything from television to print to radio. He led Quinnipiac University's Q30 Television to the 2014 Pinnacle Award for "College Television Station of the Year" as its general manager. Jon was named the Quinnipiac School of Communications "Most Outstanding Student" for his efforts, alongside winning the "Overall Achievement" award from the university.
Prior to moving to Maine, Jon played rhythm guitar for award-winning rock band Bobby Mahoney and the Seventh Son. He is an avid AC/DC fan, and naturally, a Bruce Springsteen one as well.
